Lasik Laser Treatment facility in Hubli, India

A Rs two crore worth 'Lasik Laser Treatment' (LLT) facility, the first of its kind in Karnataka outside Bangalore, will be introduced at the M M Joshi Eye Institute and Hospital here on February 16 2006.

Announcing this at a press conference here today, Dr M M Joshi said this treatment was a new advancement in the field of refractive surgery, offering hope to millions to see clearly without spectacles or contact lenses.

In this laser procedure, the cornea would be meticulously reshaped using excimer laser with sub-micron precision. A thin flap of cornea would be cut using a special cutting instrument called 'Microkeratome' and an ultra violet cold laser beam would be applied on the corneal stromal bed. Later, the corneal flap would be repositioned and the patient could instantaneously get rid of his glasses, he said.
