Moria's Epi-keratome for Laser Vision Correction

Epi-K gives the laser access to corneal tissue by separating just the thin upper layer of the cornea known as the "epithelium" using an FDA approved Epi-keratome. Vision is corrected using the excimer laser. It has been suggested that Epi-K may provide better outcomes when combined with Custom laser vision correction compared to LASIK procedures because the bed upon which the laser treats is smoother with this technique.

Dr. Jacqueline D. Griffiths' lectures,(in South Korea), titled "Clinical Experience with Moria Epi-K", discusses the best candidates for the procedure, surgical techniques, and her results. Her results performing Epi-K have been outstanding, with 82% achieving 20/25 or better and 96% achieving 20/40 or better at 1-month post-op. By 3-month post-op, 82% of patients achieved 20/20 or better, 98% of patients achieved 20/25 or better, and 100% were 20/40 or better.
